Medusa from Ancient Greek: Μέδουσα, was a Greek mythological monster from whose head hung serpents. Together with Steno and Euryale, she was one of the three Gorgons, daughters of the sea gods Forco and Ceto. According to myth, the Gorgons had the power to petrify anyone who crossed their gaze and, of the three, Medusa was the only one who was not immortal. The animal's name derives from this mythological figure. Medusa's filaments are reminiscent of the snakes that made up the Gorgon's hair. Medusa is made by assembling bent and painted lamellae around a steel circle. The slats thus form a particularly soft diffuser of light Sinuous and winking, it combines the principles of sleek, minimalist design with a charge of timeless dreaminess and poetry. This lamp is in the permanent collection of Italian Design at the Milan Triennale.
