Luceplan table lamps are the tabletop models of the brand founded in Milan in 1978 by Paolo Rizzatto and Riccardo Sarfatti, son of Gino Sarfatti of Arteluce. Luceplan brings an engineering approach to lighting: precise mechanisms, innovative materials and light designed for reading and work, often by the pair Alberto Meda and Paolo Rizzatto. The iconic models
The Costanza, designed by Paolo Rizzatto in 1986, reinterprets the classic cone-shade lamp: an interchangeable polycarbonate shade and a touch-sensitive metal rod that switches it on and dims it. It was the brand's first major success and is held at MoMA. The Berenice, by Alberto Meda and Paolo Rizzatto, is the reading lamp with jointed arms and a 360° rotating head with a coloured-glass reflector: a focused beam, ideal for a desk or bedside. The Fortebraccio, by Meda and Rizzatto (1998), has a central joint that rotates its two arms independently and a handle with a dimmer to aim the light precisely, even on slanted surfaces.
