Mantra Outdoor lamps
Outdoor is one of the most developed parts of the Mantra catalogue: wall lights for entrances and facades, bollards and posts for pathways, in-ground spotlights, and solar-powered fixtures that need no electrical work at all. Every product states its IP rating and insulation class on the technical sheet.
Which IP rating goes where
- Under a porch or covered canopy — IP44 is enough
- Wall exposed to driving rain — IP54 minimum
- In-ground, flush with paving, or near a pool — IP65 or higher
- Coastal locations — beyond the IP rating, check the finish: anodised aluminium and AISI 316 stainless steel handle salt air, standard painted finishes do not
Lighting a pathway
Stagger bollards on alternating sides at 3-4 metre intervals, at a height between 50 and 80 cm: any taller and they glare at people walking, any shorter and you get gaps of darkness. Where the path runs alongside a low wall, recessed step markers give a cleaner result than bollards.
Solar fixtures: when they actually work
A solar fixture gives back only the light it receives. Facing south with no shading from trees or buildings, it will run for several hours. Facing north, or in mid-winter, output drops sharply. For light points you have to rely on, choose a wired fixture.
