Artemide
Artemide is one of the names that defined Italian lighting design. Founded in Milan in 1959 by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza, it has created icons held at MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and repeatedly awarded the Compasso d'Oro. At AGOF Store you'll find the original Artemide catalogue, from table lamps to suspensions.
The Artemide icons
The range pairs timeless classics with contemporary designs. The Tolomeo, by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina and awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 1989, is the articulated-arm lamp found on desks and in studios worldwide. The Tizio by Richard Sapper (1972) carries current through its arms, with no visible wires, and is part of the permanent collection at MoMA. The Eclisse by Vico Magistretti, awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 1967, has a rotating inner shade that gradually screens the light, like an eclipse. The Nesso by Giancarlo Mattioli is the historic mushroom-shaped technopolymer lamp, an icon of 1960s domestic design.
